How We Got To Know About The GOD In The First Place?
What if a newborn child is never told about God his/her entire life, will s/he ever come to know about it? Most of us got to know about god from our parents and that too from a very young age and we have religious texts, stories & events all pointing towards the very existence of God.
But until a few centuries back even the brightest minds believed that the earth was flat and until a few decades back scientists believed that atom was the smallest building blocks until they split it open. So how come we don't question what is told to us and we blindly believe what we're made to believe in.
Maybe it's not about questioning the validity of the information we have on god and more about why there is a god in the first place because there are a lot of things that are known to us and still we don't know what or why exactly it is what it is and we don't point out to every such phenomenon and say that it's gods doing.
How Can We Find If God Exists Or Not?
It has been a topic of debate between theists and atheists for centuries on the very existence of God. But let's ponder upon how we look for something.
If someone asks you whether there is a pen in your pocket... well, to find that out you will have to put your hand inside that pocket and you'll get to know, but with god how can we find him not knowing where to look for him.
We can also consider the case of wind as we can't see or touch it and can only feel its presence, so can god be out there & there's just no way for us to reach out to him? But if that's so, then how come we know about god in the first place if there is just no way to reach out to him?
What Exactly We Mean When We Say, God?
Well, there is no common understanding between all humanity for god as we have different religions, faiths & beliefs but still, we can pick up a few common points that might help us understand God.
In our day-to-day life, we come across a lot of things that are artificial, and if we want to know about it, then who do we look for? The Creator. Similarly, the very world in existence and all the matter present in the universe must have a creator as everything has an origin or a source or an inventor/creator, and that's who we call GOD(creator of the universe). We by worship and prayers acknowledge the creator of the universe and every living thing present, including ourselves.
Then Why We Should Believe In God?
Let's assume that Ross and Roy are in Joey's dream. Ross knows that he is in Joey's dream & Roy doesn't. In that dream, both Ross and Roy suffer from the same harsh fate but Ross remains calm as he knows that his destiny is not in his hand so he accepts his fate but as Roy is not aware of being in Joey's dream remains upset and frustrated why it's all happening to him.
Now one might be theist(Ross) or atheist(Roy) and may believe and not believe in god(Joey) won't make any difference as both will suffer according to their fate but by believing in God, it might help one remain calm and might give him the strength to face difficult times in life.
Similarly, as we have no control over our destinies and life is full of surprises, we should never lose faith in life and be calm and courageous enough to face what's ahead of us.
