How To Not Feel Ugly
I suggest you go on YouTube and search for videos of some severely crippled and disadvantaged people who are living positively. Some of these disabled people have set the bar really high in their respective pursuits with some winning gold medals and various other accolades.
The New Bold Look
I am particularly impressed with the body proud movement that is gaining momentum with people of all sizes showing off their bikini bodies, which is something that society previously deemed to be the preserve of the size 8 to 12, wineglass-body models.
The Courage Within
The latest upset in boxing, Ruiz, who is a pot-belied, overweight-looking boxer, beat the ripped, 6 pack and handsome hunk, Anthony Joshua. Suddenly, all fat men everywhere are prancing.
He Drinks And He Knows Things
Tyrion Lannister, the dwarf in Game of Thrones, whose actual name is the unlikely Peter Dinklage, must have been the butt of all jokes while growing up. He overcame this to become a leading actor in many films. He is diminutive in stature and the family name of Dinklage, has connotations of the word “dinky” and this must have been a double gift that just kept giving to those who derided his short stature. In GOT, I saw a giant personality who ultimately is the genuine hero of the film, IMO.
Stage Of Talents
My last recent example is the blind, autistic, pianist - singer who recently auditioned on America Got Talent. Being blind is an enormous setback, adding autism on top is just one of those not-so humorous things that the universe throws at people. While the universe or a god is having a big laugh about it, many such people have used such negative odds to rise to something mind-flowingly huge. Their achievements are usually on the miraculous plane. If you haven't seen that video, I suggest you search for it as I will not feed it to you on this answer. I need you to begin a process of search, introspection and finding out just why the universe blessed you with the unique packaging that you have misnamed as ugliness.
You Were Born For A Reason
You were given your type of packaging for a reason. If you are an award-deserving kind of “ugly” the world needs you for many purposes you are naturally suited for with no prosthetic enhancements. Maybe the universe wants you to match those looks with a voice or skill that will complete your purpose on this planet. If, however, you are using your special looks for a base purpose such as trying to attract a page 3 model, you might miss the greater purpose of why we look the way we look. I've dated some truly angelic beings with hearts of devils therefore I say unto you, your insecurities are wasted if you look in the mirror and think no one wants you or you feel ugly. You are better off not being wanted by those who only judge you by your surface looks.
Last But Not The Least
So, beneath the veneer of skin, who are you? What is running in your veins, what drives you? Are you a good person even when no one can see you? The answers to these questions are what you should see in the mirror the next time you look at it.
Anything else is vanity.
